Fine Art Intaglio Prints
Viscosity Printing is a technique using the principle of thick and thin ink to layer up inks on a single plate to produce colourful, textural prints, rather than using the more common technique of layering multiple plates for colour separation.
It is a fine-art printmaking technique, making original prints in a limited editions as it is slow and allows too much variation between proofs to make large editions feasible. Colour viscosity printing is among the latest developments in Itaglio printmaking. It was developed in the mid 1950’s.
Becca has been printmaking since 1985 which has included printing on fabric, screen printing, monoprinting and more recently the Intaglio printing. Becca loves the subtle effects she can achieve with the printmaking inks, juxtaposing traces, fragments and man-made debris in the natural environment.
The best place to see Becca's recent prints is at the RHS Wisley Gallery
